The Cerro de Monserrate is a 3152 meter high mountain in
the municipality of Santa Fe of the Colombian capital Bogotá.
Its summit rises at the southeastern edge of the city.
Together with Cerro de Guadalupe (3317 meters),
which is approximately 1,600 meters to the south,
it shapes the panorama of the capital and
is visible from almost everywhere, making it Bogotá's trademark.
The Monserrate is located in the territory of the National Park Enrique Olaya Herrera.

Those who have the opportunity should take the trouble to explore Monserrate by foot. The trail is daily from 5:30 a.m. up to 1 p.m. open.
The best time, what I find, are the early hours of the morning. At this time it is still empty
and you do not get in the way. You should avoid Sunday, if you can.
If you only have Sunday, you should dodge the cable car and come to Bogota again
and then take the time for the ascent by foot.
I myself often run the path to get my head free, but also to admire the view every time. You should not run the track on time. Take your time and enjoy the climb, even if it is sometimes difficult.
But as the saying goes, "the way is the goal".
For the lazy ones, you can also call the Teleférico or the

The prices for 2 trips are around 20,000 pesos. Or a single trip for about 10,000.
A special tip: If you want to see Bogota illuminated, you can also from 6 p.m. when it's dark,
head up and take another special look at Bogota.
Please also take the time to try some of the food above. Sweet or savory.
A special highlight for me was the delicious coca tea with honey.
