The Jardín Botánico de Bogotá is a public park and also a research facility in Bogotá, named
in honor of the Spanish priest and botanist José Celestino Mutis,
who led a botanical expedition through Colombia in 1783.
It is located in the municipality of Engativá.
The park opened in 1955 and covers an area of 19.5 hectares.
It lies at an altitude of 2552 meters above sea level.
The part of the Botanical Garden is a vast terrain that allows you to view
the diversity of hundreds of species of herbs,
medicinal plants, vegetables and fruits from numerous trails.
The existing greenhouses are kept at a temperature range of about
10 to 40 degrees Celsius temperature, the humidity ranges from 60 to 85 percent.
The flora of all the different regions of Colombia, from La Guajira to the
moors of the Andean highlands to the Amazon basin, are represented.
One of the most interesting collections are the approximately 5,000 Colombian orchid species
and a rose garden with 73 species, as well as winter gardens with plants that thrive in warm,
dry and rainy climates.
Colombia is the second richest country in the world after Brazil.
The climatic zones of Colombia are not comparable with central Europe,
so there are also other plants.
Typical are palm trees that you even get to see in the cool climate of Bogotá.
Although they are not necessarily native to them, they survive without any problems,
as the temperature there is well above zero throughout the year.
The Botanical Garden is open daily from 9am to 5pm,
Sundays and public holidays from 9am to 5pm.
Admission is about 3,500 pesos, children from four to 12 half.
For visitors up to three and over 60 years, the visit is free.

When you visit the park, just enjoy the peace and quiet.
There is enough stress and noise in Bogota.
Even though the park is relatively central and there is enough noise around the park,
you will not hear or feel any noise.
Take the time and enjoy the peace and the park.
The variety of roses and orchids are simply impressive.
In addition, I can recommend you a small part in the garden.
It is a small area with lots of vegetables and fruit, which is described exactly
and what is great for children or school classes.
